Next 90 in NZ: What’s arriving in MYOB – Q3 2021

Coming soon to MYOB software in New Zealand, here’s everything you need to know about updates to Essentials and AccountRight, as well as news for MYOB Practice.

At MYOB, the recent Showcase event wrapped up the last quarter, revealing new features designed to make life easier for businesses and their advisors.

But, product development doesn’t stand still, and we are already working on delivering new products and features over the next 90 days.

Here are some of the big updates coming to MYOB products for businesses, accountants and bookkeepers.


MYOB Essentials: Improving access to files


Before diving into what’s on the horizon, please note that any releases and updates made in MYOB Essentials are also immediately available for customers using AccountRight in their web browser.

Managing access to files will continue to be a focus in this next quarter, MYOB has listened to your feedback and will make inviting a client or colleague to a file much easier, with an improved user access setup process, especially when referring files through MYOB Practice.

Other improvements on the way to Essentials:

  • Rules and allocations
  • Inventory
  • Stability and performance on the platform

MYOB AccountRight: Server edition


The big focus this quarter will be rolling out the server edition of AccountRight.

This update will include the automatic updates capability of the PC editions, it will also better support business using the server to host and share files across networks.


MYOB Practice: Changes to tax returns and more


The third quarter of 2021 is going to be huge for users of MYOB Practice, with updates across all related products, including some highly requested features going live.

Working for Families Tax Credit Schedule is well under way, with MYOB to release a workpaper for any Working for Families Tax Credits calculations when doing a tax return.

Practice users will soon be able to export the Tax Return list from MYOB Practice, and we will continue development to include more transactions in the tax statement. This will include the Working for Families Tax Credits and Student loan repayment transactions for Individuals IR3 and IR3NR statement forms.

More tax notices and data reconciliation work will occur throughout the quarter, with the ability to view and manage SLS/FAM/REB transactions into data reconciliation. You’ll also soon be able to filter the tax notices view and export the tax notice list from MYOB Practice solutions.

More time saving and automation enhancements are arriving in the following:

  • MYOB Practice Documents – auto profiling of tax documents and the ability to create customer task templates
  • MYOB Practice Contacts – maintain and edit client records online more easily by assigning associations on contact records. You’ll also have the ability to bulk import your client and contact records
  • MYOB Practice Access – very soon you’ll have the ability to bulk assign staff roles through MYOB Practice

As you can see, the work doesn’t stop when it comes to product development, and it’s especially critical when it comes to end of year tax compliance.
