Security improvements in MYOB Practice

We use industry-standard security measures to protect the information that's sent between your practice server and the MYOB Practice server. You can read all about it here.

We're adding an extra layer of protection by implementing a 30 minute inactivity time out to MYOB Practice so your client's sensitive data is protected from unauthorised access.

Why is this change important?

  • We comply with ATO's security standards to make sure that MYOB Practice continues to work with ATO online services.

  • We provide increased security control in this challenging environment and protect data from unauthorised users.

30-minute inactivity time-out

From Wednesday 27 November 2024, you’ll be asked to sign back in after 20–30 minutes of inactivity. After this time, your screen will become locked and blurred. To continue working, you'll need to sign back in with your username and password.

What are the changes?

If you've been inactive in MYOB Practice for 20- 30 minutes or more, your screen will be locked and blurred, and "Are you still there?" message will be displayed, prompting you to sign back in.

If you select Sign in using [existing email], you'll see the sign-in window. Enter the password to return to the work you've been doing. You'll not lose any of your work.
If you have multiple tabs open, you'll be asked to sign in only on one of the windows, and the rest of the tabs will continue to work.

If you select to Switch to a different account, you'll need to enter both the email address and password and sign in as that user. You'll lose any work that is in progress.
If you have multiple tabs open, you'll be asked to sign in only on one of the windows, and the rest of the tabs will continue to work.
