Cancelling an AccountRight company file subscription

If you've received an email from MYOB announcing the end of the additional data file discount, and you want to cancel a subscription for an AccountRight company file, this help topic explains how.

To cancel, you'll need to be the business owner or the person who set up your MYOB subscription.

Before you cancel a company file...

When you request:

  • to cancel your subscription through My Account, we'll contact you within 48 hours. Please note that we require 10 calendar days' notice before your next billing date to process your cancellation (please refer to the AccountRight Terms of Use)

  • a credit or refund through My Account, we'll process your request within 5 business days.

You’ll need to request your cancellation by submitting a support request online through MYOB Practice. Once you've done this, you'll get a confirmation email, and we'll get back to you with a response as soon as we can.

To cancel an AccountRight company file subscription

  1. Log into My Account ( If prompted, sign in using your MYOB account email address and password.

  2. In the Account field, choose the name of the company file you want to cancel a subscription for.

    To only see the discounted ones, refer to the email you received from MYOB with details on which files are affected by the discount ending. To view a full list of your files including desktop-only files, login to my.myob, go to the My Products menu and choose My Products.

  3. Go to the Support menu and choose Contact support.

    This opens the Contact support page, with your name pre-filled from your account details. 

  4. In the Serial number field, enter the serial number of the company file you wish to cancel.

  5. In the Subject field, enter a description of the request, like 'Cancel company file subscription'.

  6. In the What can we help you with? field, choose Account and subscription.  

  7. In the What's your issue? field, choose Cancel my subscription

  8. In the What's your reason for cancelling? field, choose a reason.

  9. When you’re finished, click Send message.

  10. Repeat from step 2 for any other files you want to cancel.


What if I change my mind after cancelling a company file?


MYOB can recover a company file and reinstate a subscription within 60 days of it having been cancelled. Please contact our team and we'll be happy to help.

What other options do I have instead of cancelling?


Instead of cancelling a company file subscription, you can:

  • downgrade the file to a cheaper AccountRight product

    Depending on the product you're downgrading from and to, you may lose some features. For example, if you downgrade from AccountRight Premier to AccountRight Plus, you'll lose multiple stock locations and multicurrency features.

  • move your company file data to MYOB Business

  • continue to use your company file with the current subscription. You'll be billed the new subscription rate for all additional files at your next billing cycle.

How do I check the status of my request?


Log into My Account ( If prompted, sign in using your MYOB account email address and password. Your support requests and their status will be listed at the bottom of My Account:
