Goodbye admin, hello business: MYOB launches new mobile app for New Zealand SMEs

MYOB Assist brings expenses, invoicing and quoting into one modern mobile app, replacing MYOB Capture and MYOB Invoice apps.

Leading business management solutions provider, MYOB, has today launched MYOB Assist – its new mobile app designed to help small business owners take control of their admin on-the-go – in New Zealand.

Available at no additional cost with eligible MYOB Business and MYOB AccountRight subscriptions, the new app brings receipt capture, quoting and invoicing together in one modern mobile companion app.

Using MYOB Assist, business owners can create, edit and send quotes and invoices from their phone, with activity syncing back with MYOB in near real-time - from turning an accepted quote into an invoice, to checking their payment status, and sending invoice reminders from anywhere.

Further helping SME operators to keep their records current while reducing manual data entry, AI-powered receipt capture in MYOB Assist reads and pre-fills transaction details for business owners to review.

MYOB Chief Customer Officer, Dean Chadwick, says the business is pleased to be launching MYOB Assist to New Zealand customers, following a positive reception in Australia.

“Since launching in Australia, we’ve seen growing use of MYOB Assist for key mobile workflows, with invoice sends and receipt uploads both increasing quarter on quarter. These are encouraging signs that customers are using Assist to keep everyday tasks moving from anywhere, with everything they need to manage day-to-day admin in one place.”

“Those behind the businesses that make up the engine room of New Zealand’s economy, are often juggling an endless amount of admin and compliance tasks, all while striving to improve and grow their businesses. In our 2026 New Zealand Business Monitor, more than half of SME operators polled said that the time spent on meeting their business compliance and tax obligations would be a pressure point for their business this year,” explains Dean.

“By empowering business owners to manage some of these tasks as they come up and offering this capability in one unified app, we’re reducing the volume of admin left for later, helping to boost cashflow and giving them more time to focus on running the business.”

App access for team members
Ensuring sensitive data protection, MYOB Assist is also designed to allow business owners to enable app-only access for their teams, so they can capture receipts, quote and invoice, without access to the full MYOB file.

“For businesses with employees working on site or away from the office, each person has their own sign-in and can complete these simple tasks in MYOB Assist without access to the wider MYOB Business or AccountRight file,” Dean says. “This means business owners can keep banking, cashflow and reporting information with the people who manage the books, while keeping smaller admin actions moving amongst their team.”

MYOB Assist will be available in New Zealand from October 19th and the app will continue to evolve as new features are released.

Customers with a compatible iOS or Android device can download the MYOB Assist app from either the Apple App Store or Google Play. To get started, customers simply download MYOB Assist, sign in with their MYOB account details and complete multi-factor authentication.

Following the launch of MYOB Assist, the MYOB Capture and MYOB Invoice apps will be retired. Both apps will be available for existing users until the November 23rd, however after this date customers will need to switch to MYOB Assist to continue managing receipts and invoices from their mobile device. More information about the new MYOB Assist app and its capabilities can be found on the MYOB website.
