Why do I need to update AccountRight?

New versions of AccountRight are designed to give you more time saving features, help you stay on top of your obligations, keep your data safe and fix things that didn't go to plan (okay, fix the bugs). If you're working online, you also need the latest version to get the best online experience and performance.

From AccountRight 2021.1 onwards, AccountRight will check for available updates, download them and update you to the latest version automatically. For more information, see Getting the latest version .

What's the latest version?

If you're already using the latest version (2024.1 released in February 2024) there's nothing else you need to do. You can check your current version by opening your AccountRight company file, going to the Help menu and choosing About MYOB AccountRight.

AccountRight needs updating message

As updates are released, older versions are decommissioned and no longer work online. If you're using an older version and your file's online, you must update to the latest AccountRight version to keep working.

Shut down AccountRight when you're not using it. If you leave AccountRight open all the time, you may miss out on automatic updates.

Download and install the update

If you have a current AccountRight subscription and you're using the latest AccountRight PC Edition or Server Edition, your updates will download and install automatically.

If you're using an older version that doesn't update automatically, you can download the latest version. Just right-click the Download button and choose Save link as or Save target as to save the file to your Desktop.

Updating AccountRight on multiple computers

If you work on a company file on more than one computer (e.g. at home and at the office) and those computers are using the latest AccountRight version, updates will download and install automatically on each computer.

Keeping AccountRight up to date

From AccountRight 2021.1 onwards, AccountRight will check for available updates, download them and update you to the latest version automatically. For more information, see Getting the latest version.

Updating from within your software is the easiest way to keep it up to date. When you open your company file, AccountRight will check for any updates you're entitled to. If one is available, it'll download and install automatically.

You'll then be prompted to restart AccountRight to complete the update. You can also look at the release notes to see what's been updated.
