Changes to employee self-onboarding

Self-onboarding lets a new employee submit their own banking, tax and super details*. All you need to do is enter some payroll details so they're paid correctly.

Self-onboarding reduces your admin and ensures every employee starts with the right information from day one.

More about self-onboarding

All new employees will now be invited to self-onboard

Self-onboarding is the fastest, most secure way to set up a new employee, so it's now the default way you'll add new employees. It reduces manual data entry and ensures employee details are correct before their first pay.

If you want to manually add employee details

To manually enter an employee's details, just send the self-onboarding request to create the employee's record, then enter the rest of their details. Just be aware that any details the employee submits will overwrite your manually entered details.

FAQs

Can I make self-onboarding optional?

If you want the option to manually add an employee and enter all their details yourself, you can do this in Payroll settings:

  1. Go to the settings menu (⚙️) > Payroll settings.

  2. On the General payroll information tab > Employee self-onboarding section, choose Optional, ask me every time.

  3. Click Save.

From now on, when you create an employee you’ll have the option to set up the employee manually and enter their details yourself.
