is here and Essentials and AccountRight 2018.2 are ready to go!
STP is now mandatory, as of 1 July 2018, and we've worked directly with the ATO to ensure that all organisations are ready to go for businesses with 20 or more employees.
STP will be a big change for all of us, so let’s make sure your clients are ready.
What is it?
It’s a new, simpler way to report employees’ payroll information to the ATO. It means employers will report salaries and wages, PAYG withholding and super information directly to the ATO via their payroll software, when they pay their employees.
As a result, businesses won’t need to complete payment summaries at the end of the financial year. Also, employees can access their information at any time through myGov.
Let’s get started?
If you process payroll on behalf of your clients, you can set yourself up to report payroll information for their business. Complete the readiness check, connect to the ATO and start reporting. If your client wants to process their own pay run, they'll need to register themselves for STP before starting the pay run.
If your client processes their own payroll, they’ll need to set themselves up for STP. You can help them get ready by making sure that they can register their software ID with the ATO during their setup. They’ll be able to do this through the ATO’s Access Manager (with an AUSkey, or having their ABN connected to their myGov account), or by phoning the ATO. More information will be provided when they onboard.
If your client processes a pay run but hadn’t registered their own business for STP, including having someone from their business notify the ATO that they’re reporting through MYOB, their reports won’t be accepted by the ATO.
Guide your clients the easy way
Your clients should have done an employee headcount on 1 April 2018. If they had 20 or more employees then, STP for them is now mandatory. For employers with 19 or less employees, it’s voluntary.
It’s a great opportunity to educate your clients that STP isn’t just about compliance – it’ll make payroll (and their lives) easier! Just like our payroll functionality in AccountRight Live and Essentials. They make processing payroll a breeze – no more group certificates, and the peace of mind that tax obligations are error free.

A note about software IDs (SIDs) for Single Touch Payroll
A software ID is unique to a business file and the software. So, your client's SID will be different to your (the tax or BAS agent's) SID, even if you're reporting through STP for the same company file.
If your client processes their own payroll, but you as their Agent are helping the business get ready for STP, you can now notify the ATO of your client’s SID. You can do this through Access Manager, or by calling the ATO on 1300 85 22 32.

MYOB has your clients covered
MYOB AccountRight Classic users should upgrade to AccountRight 2018.2 to be STP compliant. The good news is that clients on 2018.2 don’t need to move online. While STP will be supported in AccountRight 2018.2 for both cloud and desktop modes, we recommend taking advantage of the cloud services available in online mode (invoice tracking, smart bills, online payments, bill attachment, multi user and the ability to work from multiple locations).
AccountRight Classic customers who use multi-currency or any other AccountRight Classic feature that prevents them from moving to AccountRight 2018.2 will have a deferral in place until 31 May 2019. Contact your Partner Manager or MYOB Community Forum if you have any questions.
