Single Touch Payroll
The faster, better way for your clients to report payroll.
Payroll solutions that make STP simple for all of your clients
With two new solutions for clients with 1-4 employees, we’ve got STP covered for even your smallest clients.
What is Single Touch Payroll?
In a nutshell, it's a big timesaver for your clients. Single Touch Payroll (STP) is a new, simpler way for your clients to report their employees’ payroll information to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
Single Touch Payroll will be the law by 1st July 2019, so it's necessary for everyone. But don't worry, we're here to make it as easy as possible, using the payroll feature which already exists in MYOB's accounting software.
With STP, employers no longer need to complete payments summaries and group certificates at the end of the financial year. That's now taken care of every time your clients pay their employees. Also, employees can access their information at any time through myGov.
STP helps your practice.
- Automate & streamline your processes
- Improve the accuracy of your customer data
- Immediate up-to-date client information
- Save time so you can take on more clients
STP helps your clients.
- One-click compliance
- No more EOFY payment summaries
- Error-free payroll
- Employee access to their payslips
Let's get started!
If you process payroll on behalf of your clients, you can set yourself up to report payroll information for their business. Complete the readiness check, connect to the ATO and start reporting. If your client wants to process their own pay run, they'll need to register themselves for STP before starting the pay run.
Clients can register their software ID with the ATO during their setup, through the ATO’s Access Manager or by phoning the ATO. If your client processes a pay run but hadn’t registered their own business for STP, their reports won’t be accepted by the ATO.

MYOB AccountRight Classic users should upgrade to the latest version of AccountRight to be STP compliant. The good news is that clients on the latest version don't need to move online. While STP is supported in AccountRight 2018.2 (or later versions) for both cloud and desktop modes, we recommend taking advantage of the cloud services available in online mode (invoice tracking, smart bills, online payments, bill attachment, multi user and the ability to work from multiple locations).
M-Powered Payment users (on AccountRight Classic v19) who use multi-currency or any other AccountRight Classic feature that prevents them from moving to the latest version have been granted an extension to their Single Touch Payroll (STP) deferral until 30 Sept 2019 using the deferral number 43 164 997. Contact your Partner Manager or MYOB Community Forum if you have any questions.
No matter the product, MYOB has you covered. Contact your partner directly for more information if you use any of these products.
MYOB has worked very closely with the ATO to ensure any client who is currently utilising AccountEdge will have a deferral in place until 31 May 2019. Contact your Partner Manager or MYOB Support if you have any questions.
