Create or edit a quote

The layout is based on what you add to the quote

You can add items or services to your quotes in the MYOB Assist app without needing to choose a layout like you can in AccountRight or MYOB Business.

A quote created in MYOB Assist will display using the applicable layout when viewed in AccountRight or MYOB Business. For example, if you add only items, the quote will apply the Item layout.

But if you use AccountRight desktop software:

  • quotes created in MYOB Assist containing both items and services will be read-only when opened in AccountRight. You can edit these quotes in MYOB Assist or by opening your company file in a web browser

  • quotes created in AccountRight using the Professional, Miscellaneous or Time Billing layout will be read-only in MYOB Assist. You can edit these in AccountRight desktop or browser

You need a customer on each quote

Choose a customer for the quote or set them up if they're a new customer.

Templates control how your invoices and quotes look, and you can have as many templates as you need.

Once a template is set up, it'll be selectable in the app when you email or share an invoice or quote.

A custom item is a one‑off product or service

Unlike the items in your list of saved products and services, custom items are typically one-off things that you'll add to an invoice or quote, like a specific service fee or unique item.

If you sell something regularly, set it up and save it by using MYOB in a web browser. You can then choose that item here to quickly add it to future quotes and invoices.

Preview a quote to check what the customer will see

Check the PDF preview to make sure the quote has all the right customer, item and pricing details. Just open the quote and tap Preview at the top.

If you need to change your business details or logo, update the template in MYOB in a web browser. Here's the details.

To change the customer on a sale (invoice or quote), create a new sale

Once an invoice or quote is saved, you can't change the customer. Instead, create a new invoice or quote.

If you've entered a quote or invoice with both a custom and a saved item, it will be read-only when opened in AccountRight desktop. You can edit the quote in MYOB Assist or by opening your company file in a web browser.
