Viewing a general task

You'll receive an email from your advisor when they've created a general task for you to complete. This may or may not include supporting documentation.

To view a general task from your email invitation

  1. Click View Task in the email from your advisor. You'll then be directed to your portal.

    A message at the bottom of the email lets you know what email address to use to access your collaborative portal. This address is the one your accountant has on file for you.

  2. Click the appropriate Sign in button to use your existing MYOB account or your Google account.

    If you don't have an MYOB account, you can create one. Click Sign up and see How do I create an MYOB account? for more info.

  3. Enter your username and password, then press Enter.

    If you've been given access to more than one collaborative portal, you automatically have access to the appropriate portal.

  4. You'll now have access to the Tasks tab of your portal which will display the specific details of the task that your advisor has assigned to you.

  5. View the details of the task, and open and review any attached documents.

    If a document requires a signature, indicated by a Signature icon (a pencil), you need to view the document before you can access the Reject and Approve buttons.

    When you open a document that needs a signature, a Viewed icon (an eye) appears next to the document. The icon only appears for you, not your accountant.

  6. When you've completed the task and you want to add comments or ask questions, enter your queries in the Comment text box of the task details panel and click Send.
    An email will be sent to your advisor letting them know that you've added a comment to the task.

To view a general task from the task details

  1. Go to your portal.

    You may have already bookmarked the URL, which will be something like https://practicename.portal.accountants/, where practicename is your advisor's business name.

  2. Find and select the task on the Tasks page to display the task details.

  3. View the information displayed for the general task, and open and review any attached documents.

    If a document requires a signature, indicated by a Signature icon (a pencil), you need to view the document before you can access the Reject and Approve buttons.

  4. If you have any questions or you want to comment on the task or attached documents, enter your queries in the Comment text box of the task details panel and click Send.
    An email will be sent to your advisor letting them know that you've added a comment to the task.
