Install AccountRight

You need to install AccountRight to work with online company files. If you're already using AccountRight and you're looking for the latest version, download it here.

Working with an offline file? If you need to work with offline files after the end of offline support on 17 June, you can install AccountRight Server Edition as a short-term option. We recommend moving your files online as soon as practical.

Who can use AccountRight? You can use the latest AccountRight version to enter data if you:

  • have been invited to access an online company file (learn more about accepting an invitation), or

  • want to try AccountRight or you need it for study purposes (learn more).

If you don't have an AccountRight subscription, company files will become read-only after 30 days.

If you're already using AccountRight, you can check the version in the Welcome window that appears when you start AccountRight. Or you can open AccountRight and go to Help > About AccountRight.

To install AccountRight

Repeat these steps on every computer that needs to access your online company files. AccountRight will be installed for the user who is currently logged into Windows. If other users log in to the computer using their own Windows account name, they’ll need to install AccountRight as well.

  1. Right-click Download and choose Save link as or Save target as to save the installation file to your computer.

  2. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation.

  3. Once AccountRight is installed, you'll see a shortcut icon for AccountRight on your desktop. You can then delete the installation file.

  4. You can now start AccountRight and open a company file.

If you have an older AccountRight version that you no longer need, you can uninstall it.

Work offline for now with AccountRight Server Edition

From 17 June 2026: 

  • AccountRight PC Edition no longer supports offline company files. Online files continue to work in PC Edition or a web browser.

  • AccountRight Server Edition is the only way to access offline company files. If you're hosting a file on a network, you need Server Edition installed on every workstation that accesses it.

  • Server Edition is built on older technology that's no longer being maintained. It won't receive bug fixes, security updates or new features, and may stop working entirely. We recommend moving your files online as soon as practical.

  • If you use both offline and online files, you can have both PC Edition and Server Edition installed on the same computer.

  1. Download the latest AccountRight Server Edition. Once you've saved the installer to your computer, double-click it to install AccountRight. You will need administrator permission to complete the installation.

  2. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation.

  3. Once AccountRight is installed, you'll see a shortcut icon for AccountRight on your desktop. You can then delete the installation file.

  4. You can now start AccountRight and open a company file.

Installation FAQs

Can I install AccountRight on a Mac?

AccountRight is designed for use on the Windows operating system. Consider using MYOB Business which runs in a web browser and can be used on both on Windows and Mac.

If you want to install AccountRight on an Apple Mac, you'll need to install Windows on your Mac first. You can do this using Boot Camp (a Mac utility that allows you to install other operating systems) or virtual software such as Parallels or WMware. Note that running AccountRight on virtual software may affect performance and speed. And while many users report a good experience, it's not tested or supported by MYOB.

How do I uninstall AccountRight?

When you uninstall AccountRight, only the software is removed. Your company files and customised templates are not affected.

To uninstall AccountRight:

  1. Access the list of programs that are installed on your computer using the Windows Start button > Apps and Features.

  2. Click the AccountRight software you want to uninstall then click Uninstall.

  3. Click through any confirmation windows, and click Yes to wanting to completely remove the selected application and all of its components.
