How your customers can purchase MYOB
Most importantly, there is absolutely no difference in the software.

There are two options for a customer purchasing MYOB AccountRight Basics, Standard and Plus.
Option 1. Purchase a 12 month subscription which requires an ongoing monthly payment.
A 12 subscription immediately gives customers the benefits of online accounting – smart reconciliations, unlimited users, auto updates, accounting on the go and extended customer support. Another benefit for AccountRight subscribers is the free OnTheGo mobile app. This lets customers create and send invoices, manage their contacts and most importantly, it updates their MYOB accounts in real time.
Option 2. Purchase a perpetual desktop licence for a one-off cost.
This a traditional desktop software with online accounting benefits available free for the first six months. After six months, if the customer wants to continue enjoying the online benefits they need to pay for an AccountRight subscription.
Customers can buy selected MYOB products in the Download card format. The card lets users download and activate software without the need to purchase a box with a CD/DVD. Many new computers no longer have CD/DVD drives, so a software download is the easiest way to get software onto a computer.
The POSA card also ensures customers are getting the latest version of the software.
The software can be downloaded and reinstalled as many times as required, however as with a CD/DVD, the software activation will be as per the licence agreement.
AccountRight Basics, AccountRight Standard and AccountRight Plus.
A newer version of AccountRight Premier is due for release in August 2014 and this will also be Windows 8 compatible.
MYOB Essentials is accessible through any web browser, and can be used on any device or PC that can access the internet.
The following products are NOT compatible with Windows 8:
- MYOB AccountEdge Basic
- MYOB AccountEdge Pro
- MYOB AccountEdge Network Edition
- MYOB RetailManager, MYOB RetailBasics and MYOB RetailReady
- MYOB JustInvoices
MYOB Essentials can be used on any mobile device that has an internet connection. Please note: this is browser based cloud accounting software and not an application:
- MYOB AccountEdge has an iOS application which can be downloaded from the Apple App Store.
- A Windows 8 app for AccountRight can be downloaded from the Windows App store.
- There are currently no Android apps for AccountRight.
MYOB AccountEdge can be used on any IOS device. Download the app from the Apple App Store.

What are the differences between MYOB Essentials, AccountRight and AccountEdge products?
MYOB Essentials is 100% browser based, cloud accounting software. AccountRight is available on and offline for PC devices, while AccountEdge is accounting software made for Mac.

From August 2014, if a customer is using an old desktop version of MYOB without a current Cover agreement with MYOB - or already has access to Live Services - they can upgrade to the latest version of MYOB.
MYOB is due to release retail subscription products for the AccountRight range in August 2014. Customers will be able to purchase a 12 month subscription from participating retailers. Upgrade directions will be available online once the product is activated.
If a customer is on an older version of MYOB, and is looking to move from PC to MAC, or vice versa – they will need to contact MYOB directly. A Tech Support resource is required to assist in this process. There is no direct upgrade product available in store for those scenarios.
Yes. MYOB uses Microsoft Azure to house its data – the most secure online platform in the world. Both MYOB and Microsoft make multiple copies of data back ups each day, meaning information is safe, secure, and easily accessible.
Storing data in the cloud is considered a much safer and secure option for customers. Keeping data on a PC can be more susceptible to loss if a hard drive is corrupted or destroyed, or a computer stolen without a secondary back up.
Customers can either purchase a 12 month LIVE subscription from a participating retailer, or call MYOB directly to upgrade their file to an MYOB Live subscription.
