General Upgrade Info
What is happening?
- AccountRight users whose files are in the cloud can now access their product in a browser
- This browser will be accessible from any computer (Mac/PC) and is mobile-responsive on any device (phone/tablet)
- The browser will enable users to complete most of their workflows, even if they are not using the desktop app
- Users can now choose the AccountRight experience they prefer and switch between them with ease – working on the fully-featured desktop app, effortlessly through a browser (even on a Mac) or through the native mobile apps, with data syncing seamless between them all
How do I access AccountRight in a browser?
- Users can access AccountRight in a browser by going directly to app.myob.com and signing in with your username and password. Once you log in, you will see your company file(s).
- To simplify finding this page and working between desktop and browser modes, we recommend bookmarking this page in a supported browser such as Google Chrome.
Are there any new features in the browser?

Are there any new features only available in the browser and what happens if the user tries to open them in the desktop?
- Quantities reporting in Banking, General Journals, Spend Money, Receive Money and in several reports, including the GL Detail, P&L, Cash Movement
- Service & Item invoice layouts
- Invoice PDF forms created in the browser
- If any of these features are user, the data will not be lost when the user returns to the desktop app, but it will not appear on screen
What features are not yet available in the browser?
- Multi-currency
- Time billing
- Recurring transactions
- Purchase and sales orders
- Inventory
- ARL invoice types: Professional, Miscellaneous, Time Billing
If I use the browser, can I also use the desktop?
- Yes. A user can decide which way is best for them to work – on the desktop app, in the browser or both
- As your data is stored in the cloud, the desktop and the browser are pushing and pulling data from the same location, syncing immediately
- If a user makes a change in the browser (i.e. adds an invoice), then they could go into the desktop and see that invoice in the invoice list
If I use the browser, do I still need to install the desktop updates?
- Yes. Both files must be on the same latest version so you will need to install a desktop update every time the browser is updated
- Users will also need to open the desktop app at least once every 30 days to refresh their license
Is there anything the user needs to do to start working in the browser?
- The first time a user logs in, they will need to link their my.myob account by entering in their user name and password
What happens if you try to work with an unsupported feature (i.e. edit a professional layout invoice)?
- If a feature is unsupported, such as accessing a Professional layout invoice in the browser, there will be messages on the page letting the client know that the feature is either read-only or non-accessible in the browser and they will need to edit through the desktop product


Will the AccountRight browser have accessibility features for vision impaired users?
- The AccountRight browser will support hi-contrast, UI-zoom and screen reader modes for our vision impaired users
What happens if a user tries to open a page they don’t have permission to access (i.e. a user with sales level permissions trying to access the banking screen)?
- The user will see an ‘access denied’ message
Banking and Banking Rule Enhancements
When a bank transaction has been allocated, will it show as the account name or account code?
- Allocated bank transactions show the account name
Can you create a new account via the Bank Transactions screen when allocating transactions?
- No
If banking rules are setup in the Desktop app, will they work in the browser as well?
- Yes, these rules will work in both locations as long as you have enabled the following preferences:
- Auto-approve bank transactions matched to MYOB transactions [System-wide]
- Auto-allocate bank transactions to outstanding MYOB invoices or bills [System-wide]
- To enable these preferences, go to the Setup menu → Preferences → Banking
When doing a bank reconciliation and the user needs to add a new bank transaction, can the user do this and then return to the exact same place in the original reconciliation or will they have to start over?
- We will add a resume functionality, however it is not yet available. We will let you know once it is.
Can users access the bulk coding report from the Banking screen?
- No. This is accessible either from the Transaction Processing page (formerly Dashboard) in MYOB Practice or through the Reports section in MYOB Essentials.
Can you apply for Bank Feeds in product?
- Currently you need to apply for Bank Feeds through my.myob
- This process will be moved into the product itself soon
Who can initiate a Bank Feeds application?
- Currently only the owner of the file can apply
Compliance
Can I create custom tax codes in the browser?
- No, custom tax codes are only available in the desktop
Reports
When you move from report to report, will the dates be remembered, or do you need to re-enter them each time?
- As you move from report to report, the dates will be remembered
- However, if you move from one report to another, change the date, and then return to the original report, the dates will have changed once you return to that original report
If a budget was created in the desktop app, will this report appear in the browser?
- No. The reporting system in the browser Is completely new and will not be able to pull in previously saved desktop reports
- Features like ‘compare to budget’ will need to have a browser-based version of the budget to function
When you open the GST report in a new session, what time period does it default to?
- It defaults to the last financial quarter
In the General Ledger and GST reports, will the Description or Notes fields appear? Or can the reports be customised to include these fields?
- Yes, both the General Ledger and GST reports we will be adding 2 fields – the Name field and the Description field
- The Name field will be pulling information from two places, the hierarchy being:
- Payment to/from
- General bank transaction description
- The Description field will pull information from two places, the hierarchy being:
- Line Item Description
- Notes
- Account Numbers will be included as a standard field on the report
Which reports can you consolidate?
- Profit and Loss
- Balance Sheet
- Cash Movement
If you consolidate reports across different entities and their chart of accounts are set up differently (i.e. file #1 shows 6-1100 and file #2 shows 6-1101), how will this display?
- If the accounts/headers don’t line up, both line items will be displayed.
Can you configure the consolidated reports to show each business’s account totals in separate columns? For example, business #1 in column A, business #2 in column B, and totals in column C?
- Not at this time
Can you hide accounts in consolidated reports? For example, if the files have inter-entity transactions, can those accounts be hidden?
- Not at this time. You can’t hide the accounts in consolidated reports.
Is there a limit to how many entities you can consolidate in a consolidated report?
- Up to 10 entities, depending on size
Can you consolidate reports across Essentials and AccountRight?
- You can consolidate reports across new Essentials and AccountRight. However, to do this, any AccountRight file you wish to use for this purpose must be on the latest version available
- You cannot consolidate reports across AccountRight and the older version of Essentials until that file gets upgrade to the new Essentials
With the new customised reports once you’ve drilled down, when you go back will it return you to the exact same place that you were at?
- We encourage users to open a drilled down item in a new tab rather than the same window. This means that their exact position is still open.
- If a user doesn’t open in a new window, then they can get back to their position using the back button. It will remember the filters the user added but won’t go to the exact position on the page.

- No. All reports created through the browser-based reporting system will only be available in the browser
