2012 – a year in the clouds
Cloud accounting software… in the clouds
Towards the end of each year I like to reflect on the MYOB events of the previous 12 months. 2012 had many highlights and exciting developments at MYOB – I thought I would share some with you.
This year was without doubt one of the busiest and most enjoyable I can remember at MYOB. The team here has worked tirelessly to bring a number of new products and services to market to make business life easier for our clients.
For our Accountants Office users
We have seen a huge uplift in the adoption of the new AO suite, with over 2300 practices now enjoying all of the benefits of AO Practice Manager – a fantastic milestone for the business.
For our Accountants Enterprise users
We released Workpapers Template Designer, which offers a level of flexibility and customisation never seen before. And finally, we introduced enhancements to our Statutory Reporter functionality.
But perhaps our strongest achievements were seen with our business products.
AccountRight Live arrives
The biggest news was the market release of AccountRight Live on 8 November. AccountRight Live is a next generation cloud accounting service – the first of its kind in Australia. Businesses now have the choice of how they do the accounts: on the desktop, in the cloud or both.
Unlike browser-based accounting solutions, AccountRight Live is available online and offline. So, for example, if something goes wrong with your internet connection, you can still continue to work as usual. We’re already hearing stories from users of how efficient it is for them to work offline while travelling on planes. I love those stories!
Other great benefits include automatic bank feeds via Bank Link, multi-user functionality, and – most importantly for financial advisors – live access from remote locations.
Getting (more and more) Aussie businesses online
Our Atlas website solution continues to grow from strength to strength. There are now 32,500 Australian businesses online thanks to our ‘GettingBusinessOnline’ joint venture with Google. This year we also extended the program successfully into New Zealand with a further 9,000 NZ businesses getting online as well.
If you haven’t checked out Atlas yet, I thoroughly recommend you take a look on the website.
MYOB Live Bootcamp and more
Our Client Management and Live Advisor teams have also been busy getting out into practices all over the country to spread the MYOB message. With the Connected Accountants Roadshow, Tax Seminars and MYOB Live Bootcamps, they’ve been focused on painting Australia purple.
MYOB has had so many amazing achievements this year – what about you? I’d love to hear your reflections on the year. What wins did you have?
