Entrepreneurs take investors for a spin thanks to MYOB and TwoSpace
28 Aug 2018
MYOB and TwoSpace are addressing one of the biggest hurdles entrepreneurs face - access to capital.
Together they have taken the elevator pitch to the next level, giving a select group of entrepreneurs one spin of the ferris wheel at the iconic Luna Park in Sydney to pitch their idea to investors.
Event highlights a genuine roadblock for businesses
The entrepreneurs pitching have had a practice round already, with their place at the event being decided, in part, from a 60 second Instagram video.
“MYOB knows how hard it is for small businesses to get access to capital,” said MYOB’s Startups Community Manager Kristen Holden.
“We’re supporting this event to help highlight this in a fun and interactive way.”
Tashi Dorjee, cofounder and CEO at TwoSpace, is excited to launch this latest event to help connect people.
“At TwoSpace we believe in connecting people, our spaces are a vehicle for human interaction. I thought, what better way to do that than by having some fun with some serious thrown in there!” he said.
TwoSpace takes restaurants and other places that are typically closed during the day and turns them into co-working spaces. Entrepreneurs can work from the spaces as well as build networks in the startup community.
“The ferris wheel idea was something I have been wanting to do for over a year,” said Mr Dorjee.
“If you have to pitch or be pitched to why not do it in a ferris wheel? Elevators don’t have enough fresh air.”
In addition to the ferris wheel pitching there will be classic carnival games, networking and drinks sponsored by Sydney-founded brewery Young Henrys, a long-standing supporter of TwoSpace.
With its mission to help businesses succeed, MYOB is proud to support an event helping businesses at the beginning of their journey.
“Startups are the future of Australian business and the new knowledge economy,” said Mr. Holden.
“We love supporting events like this that help Australia’s next generation of business superstars.”
The ferris wheel pitching event takes place at Luna Park in Sydney on 29th August 2018 from 1.00-6.00pm. More information and tickets can be found online.
